Lady Boutique

I wanted to learn tailoring.. part-time.. but it is quite costly and need to sacrifice a lot of time.. I guess I'm not ready for that.. Slowly I will sharpen my skills by self learning..
For the time being.. I can only afford to buy books and magazine that might help a novice sewer like me. Found this at the newstand a few days back... Actually I took the risk of buying this magazine cos again its Japanese and sealed! I can't even flip thru before buying..
But I learnt to read dress pattern from a dressmaker.. so I guess there is not much of problem to me.. Just follow the numbers and a few english words on it.. and adjust to body measurement.

Quite nice women attires... I should try some.. as I never liked sewing adults apparel.. Cos I have very small space in my sewing room.. and adult dresses are too "grande" for me..

So I decided to try out drafting a pattern for my friend Ulai... She'll be a bridesmaid this coming October.. And she can't find any tailor that can accept her order due to Eid Fitri is just around the corner.. Pitty her...! She begged me to make one for her.. as she is really in a very "desperate" mode.. hehehe.. So.. even though I have many projects due in a few days.. I try my best to squezzzzze my schedule just for her...

Luckily I bought this magazine.. it has diagrams on how to draft pattern with adjustment and standard size.. I just follow & adjust where appropriate..

Really hope this would turn out ok... This is a very "challenging" project for me.. Can't afford for any mistakes.. It must turn out P.E.R.F.E.C.T.... Pray for me..!

Baju Kurung

I only managed to make 2 pair of "Baju Kurung" ( a traditional Malay costume - it has a top & a sarong) for my niece's 2 daughters... from WP Labuan, aged 3yrs & 2months old baby...
ignore the itcy hands on top..

I wish I can work faster... even though this is a cotton fabric.. I should have made it easier & faster.. but.. hmm.. this is the fastest pace I can do so far..

Baby Tascha's Christening

This is baby Tascha's christening ceremony... Cute lil Tascha resting on mommy's arm.. So sweet isn't she?
During the ceremony..

Ahh... adorable baby...! I miss my baby already.. Luckily the dress fits her.. a bit large for her size, but still ok.. I love sewing it..

Janome Overlock or serging machine

Where is my finish products?? No updates on my sewing projects yet??
I hope you're not tired of my gadgets yet... Too busy updating my blog with my new assets... until I forgot my update my sewing stuffs...
Ok.. ok.. this would be the last gadget ... (of the month)...
Presenting my new overlock or serging machine by Janome...

Why I love Janome so much..?

You'll have to try it out to feel the difference....

Why I bought this dinasor? Cos I have lots of sewing projects to be done that needs to sew the edging.. I have my old "no brand-made-in-china" serging machine .. but I have problems sewing overlock stitch at the edge which has curves.. And sometimes the stictches are not even or even missed a stitch and most of the time.. my fabric will get stuck easily.... Imagine the headache I went thru with my old overlock machine (too bad I forgot to take a pic of the old dinasor.. sold it already)

Hah.. now with this new overlock machine... I heard it can work wonders.. But I need to explore the functions.. Will keep you updated on what I've made from this machine...

I have 12 "baju kurung" due this week... oh my!

Gadget of the day..

Another interesting accessories that might be usefull when you need to make your own bias binding tape ( in Malay - kun atau tape paiping atau lis). Normally we just buy from the store for satin bias binding or normal cotton one. Now with this bias tape maker, you can make your own bias tape with your own matching material. All you need to do is to cut the fabric you desired , insert it, it will fold for you. Next.. just iron while inserting it... TADA! Done with your D.I.Y bias binding tape!

Opps.. sorry.. the price is way to high for this small lil gadget..hehehe.. Sorry my lips blocked your view..

Sewing is a learning process..

I would never stop learning.. and I'm still learning.. even from ground Zero.

Some more learning episodes...

"One of the things I learned the hard way was that it doesn't
pay to get discouraged. Keeping busy and making optimism a way of life can
restore your faith in yourself."

Rose... rose.. bud

I made a trial embroidery of bullion rose.. to be sewn on a baby baju kurung..
Wait till its done.. to be cont...

More gadget go...

I can't resist from not buying things that is a bit exta ordinary... Yeah.. yeah.. I'm a bit wasting up my money.. But I'm not buying for nothing... Its for my own collection and use.. aaahh..

I would never thought of buying these stuff if I were not to use it... A bit pricey.. but good quality products I might say.. Yes... I bought all this from Epal.

Would you buy this magnetic pin holder if you're not a sewing freak?? I don't think so... But it comes handy for careless person like me.. with all the sharp tiny needles laying on your work place.. Very dangerous.. With this magnetic pin holder.. i can just throw the pins on it.. viola!

Now.. what is this for? Double tracing wheel? Normal tracing wheel has only 1 wheel.. This one makes life easier.. Especially when you need to add seam allowances to your pattern.. no need to measure every inch of your pattern.. Just adjust the wheel to the right width.. then run the roller along your pattern piece.. EASY KAN?

What is this now? Its a thread cutter? Oh gosh... why can't you use a scissors or snipper?? (don't ask)

Another madness... my rotary cutter, cutting mat & ruller.. I promise.. I must make tonnes of patchwork & quilts...

JANOME celebrates the production of 50 million units

JANOME celebrates the production of 50 million units household sewing machines on July 22, 2008. See more

Believe it or not... I may be the 50million-th person who bought this sewing machine.. Cos, I officially paid for the machine & brought it home on the 22 July 2008 itself! I wonder if Epal notice it.. I doubt it... I should have won some lucky-buyer-draw or something... Dream on girl...! Who are you to claim as such...

Well.. its ok.. As long as I'm satisfied with what I bought and the projects I produced.. its all that matters to me..

Thanks to Epal KK who had organise a briefing on this 50 million thingy... and give away the calender-key-chain with the 50 million logo in front, and also a car sticker. Shopping time again

Since time is so precious... I can't seem to find time shopping.. Good thing we had online shopping nowadays.. Just a click away... swooooshh... fly to your doorstep!

Look what I bought this time? I received the Pos Express pack yesterday from Snazzy & Such ! Although there was a bit of delay... blame it on the Postman Pat! Tinn had posted the stuff last week.. Wow! "POS EXPRESS - Dijamin sampai esok"???? Instead, it only turned up yesterday..

Just not my luck..
Well.. as long as I got my stuff.. thats good enuf! Thank you Snazzy & Such ! I'll be a loyal customer of yours.. heeheh..

I bought this bright color Yokey Top (CUTE ISN'T IT?? my fav colors!)... Tailoring shears (wow.. I'm a tailor?).. and 3-in-a-set Bobbin (the 3 white square plastic).

See this top - really comfy cotton it is... Admire her workmanship.. very neat! Thanks Snazzy & Such

Although its time for bed.. I quickly put on this top on to Maya.. for photo session. Mind her boring look.. hehehe.. she hates it when I had my hp cam pointing at her.. and tried to look away..
Yeah.. she's pretending she didn't see me.. concerntrating with her giant book.

Naahhh... time for bed.. Goodnite mama! I had to change her back to her night long-sleeved tshirt.

So.. try visit Snazzy & Such to see her cool sewing stuffs & crafts...!

Testing out fabric booties.. with "brakes"

I tested to sew this booties .. I planned to make it more solid.. and ironed it with the glued fabric inside.. But funny I bought the glued-fabric which is too hard stiff! It is supposed to have elastic bands at the ankles.. but it was too hard to insert elastic bands in it..

I will make this for "display item only".. hehehe .. cos I think toddlers who wears it will get blisters... Its hard as rock!
I must change the inner glued fabric to a softer type.. I don't wanna hurt those cute tiny feet...

Hey.. this sole was made with anti-slip at bottom of sole (this is the brakes feature I meant.. heheeh)... Yeah.. I bought it all the way from US. I can't find it here or anywhere in Malaysia online stores .. or is there any online "seller" who sells this material online? If anybody knows where to buy this .. please tell me.

Now I can make soles for toddlers.. I guess its limited to 18 mnths only (for security purposes).
