I have soo many things in mind.. feel like doing all.. but *sigh*.. sew much things.. sew little time!! For EPAL project, had to put aside some.. only did as much as I can.. if I could I wish I can do ALL 24 projects.. Next in hand is this ABC wall hanging.. I was thinking .. I want to make this into a quilt for my lil Maya.. but..I wanted to hang this on the wall too.. just right next to Maya's bed.. I know she would love to read the A-B-C.. She can sing the whole ABC song now.. she pronounced it a bit clearer now... Hmm.. see how things going. I'll decide later..

I miss my knitting toooooo!! Long time I didnt buy this magazine again.. I wonder what happen to my booking orders at Penguins Bookstore.. They didn't call me anymore for the latest issue of SIMPLY KNITTING which I've booked. I guess they have shipping problem or they don't order it anymore.. Hah.. well.. I have other alternatives... Got this from Signature..

I got the Simply Knitting diary 2009! Cute... (sayang lah... nak conteng)

This is cute... Huaaawww... :(( I wonder when can I spare my time knitting now... I've promised 1 cardi for Danish & 1 for Alicia ... I guess they have grown much bigger now..

I must get their new measurement now... Sorry my friends.. I must finish up my sewing fast.. then I can spare some time knitting..

Whoaaahhh!!! I like this one..!! Can I or can I not??

Now I love this book by Amy Butler..! I thought this would be a small paperbag book... I can't belive it is actually hardcover! And with pattern inside too!

Daisy.. daisy.. sewn on cardie..

Daisy..daisy on my cardie..
Completed finally!

My hands was a bit shakey when sewing this embroidery on the cardigan. Its not the same as sewing on the normal cotton fabric. This one needs extra gentle & patience .

The cardie is not mine... I wonder when I can make one for myself..

Tweety Mutley ordered this red cardie for her beloved mother for her birthday.

Pre-Happy Birthday auntie!

I knit it my way..

Long time I did not update my knitting projects, as you know knitting really takes time to complete. Unless if you put all your time knitting every hour & minute of your day.. yes, you can finish a large size cardigan in just 1 week.

I made one cardigan for Tweety Mutley.. hmm.. I cant remember when I started it.. sometime end of June. The cardie was actually completed last week, but the finishing part was a bit time consuming - especially darning the yarns & the embroidery..

So here's the 98% of the cardigan I've made.. Need to complete the embroidery part. I made 2 daisies so far at the front.. I hope I can finish it tonight..

Just to share with you this interesting embroidery method - using a crochet hook to sew chain stitch to your knitting garment. I can't remember where I found the tutorial video on this one... But its surely fun to do.. and fast too..

Look at the chain stitch I made using the crochet hook.. saves time.. But I have to be more careful on straight lines.. too many glitches here and there.. hehehe..

This is my next project... Stripe Blue cardigan for baby Danish..

Everywhere... knit.. knit..

I hope I never get bored knitting..
I knit everywhere..
Even if I have so little time..
I must squeeze my time to do a few rows at least..
Do I have time?
YES.
Knitting -- when my baby is awake
Sewing -- when my baby sleeps
Time for my baby?
YES.. all the time.. she'll be around me when I'm knitting..
Time for daddy?
YES too.. But we spent most of the weekends out together..
That time... when daddy's home..
NO KNITTING NO SEWING..
just me, daddy & Maya.

Baby hat

Completed my baby hat!

Monday, 23 June 2008

Look who's knitting ??

I found it a bit funny to see my girl was caught holding my knittings. I was lucky she didn't pull the yarn out!. *PHEW*
But she was pretending she was doing it... she holds it quite still.. until I came back and saw 'em in her bare-hands!!! Oh NO! *I shouted*
But she seems to stay cool & stunned there for a while.. She knew I'll get angry with her..
But instead.. she put a smile on my face and quickly grab my hp to get the precious shot before she ruin my masterpiece..!

I tried to make a hat from the cheapest-yarn-in-town. Although the color was so sweet.. but the yarn is toooooo tiny to knit!..

This hat was suppose to be for 2yrs size.. But with this tiny yarn plus the tiny needle size 3mm, i guess this would only make for 3-6months size..

Well, nevermind. This is only trial.. just to check the gauge for tiny yarns like MINLON or SAKURA... Yes.. these yarns are cheap, but not that suitable for knitting.. (Penat lah.. banyak sangat stiches )

Check out the price in KK - RM 3.40 for Minlon yarn.. The yarn store I went informed me that the price will increase by 1st July 2008.

Oh my! Will that end my knitting hobby?

No way Jose!

Next Cardie for my mama's birthday

I got a request from my dear friend Tweety Mutley, to make a cardigan (same as the cream flower cardigan) for her mom. She wanted a dark maroon color..
So I've started knitting it.. until I realise my mom's birthday is just around the corner -- 23rd June!
Oh gosh! I have not much time. I wanted to make a Ribbon Embroidery Flower Bouquet design, framed nicely... for her to hang on the wall. But.. not much time..
So.. Sorry Tweets, I had to use this for my mom..heehehe
Hope you woudn't mind waiting for next round.
(hope the yarn shop still sell this color)

I just love knitting...

Simply Knitting Magazine

I just love this magazine! It really inspire me to knit.. knit .. and knit..
This is the latest April 2008 issue.. Look at the beautiful colors. You should see inside.. with all the beautiful yarns.
I wish I can go to the stores and buy 'em.

What I like best about this magazine is.. it comes with a gift for every issue!

For this month's issue, I got a set of Yarn Bobbins.. which is very usefull for my leftovers yarn or I can organise it better.

Next month issue will be "cable needle".. I hope its for real. I found out that last month's issue, they changed the gift items.. This april issue should be given a yarn organiser (its a transparent plastic bag to organise your yarn), but I got this bobbins instead.

Maybe its their marketting strategy to get you buy every issue..

But I have no regrets on buying this magazine.. I still get stuff that cannot be found anywhere in Sabah.

Cream Flower Cardigan

Here I am knitting again... a special request all the way from Putrajaya - Ziera for her to wear during her confinement.. A Cream Flower Cardigan.
I really hope I can get it done before her due date.. err.. sometime end of May?

Imagine.. 99 stitches on the circular needle... luckily this is M size.. If I were to knit my XXL size.. alamak.. sarat la jarum ku .. oohh.... jari jemari ku.. kaku..heheheh
Hmm... I only made around 9inch..
Its a long way to go Zura.. But I really love doing it..
Hey.. How come its called Cream Flower Cardigan? I see only plain color?
Till then.. wait for the result.. SOON.

My special Yarn Organiser..

Look at my latest invention of "Yarn Organiser"..

Haven't got the time to "embellish" it yet.. It comes from raw material (Maya's Enfagrow box)

I'm in the process of making a "Stripe Cardigan" for Maya..

Its easy to put my yarns inside this box, since I had to use 3 balls of different color yarn, at least I can keep my yarn safe & clean & of course tidy.

For a start, I'm knitting the cardie by making the "back" side of the cardie. I'm using a bamboo 4.5mm needle, not that that bad.. Although its faster to use an aluminium straight or circular needle, but I managed to complete the back part in just 2 days ( err... not full 24hr-day ya.. I only got 2-3hrs per day to spare after Maya sleeps...)

Tada... done 1st phase, back of the cardie..

To be continued...

Sippy bottle tote

I knit this little tote bag for Maya's sippy bottle for her to carry it around and easy to hang inside the car.. Theres no pattern for this.. I simply made it with my leftovers yarn..

Luckily it fits the bottle.

I can also tote along Maya's small flask. But its a bit too heavy for the yarn to hold the weight..

OCEAN WAVES PLACEMAT

This is one small project I did last year, supposed to make 6 pieces of these placemat, but too lazy to make some more.. One is enuf lah.. ;))

( Bring the ocean to your dining or patio table! )

Finished size: about 18 inches wide by about 13 inches high
Materials: Worsted weight yarn, about 30 yds each of 4 colors, or about 120 yds of any color. 1 pr. US # 10 needles
Gauge: 4 sts and 5 rows = 1 inch

Directions:
Note: We changed colors every 8 rows, except for the beginning and end colors which included the cast on and knit rows and bound off rows in the same color.Cast on 78 sts. K across for 2 rows.
Pattern :

Row 1: Keeping 3 sts at beg and end of row in knit st, work as follows:K 3, K 2 tog, 4 times, *then Y O K 1 , 8 times , K 2 tog 8 times* repeat between *'s across row to last 11 sts, K 2 tog 4 times, K 3.

Row 2 and 4: Purl across.

Row 3: Knit across.Repeat these 4 rows of pattern , keeping the 3 sts on each side in knit st every row, until about 12 ½ or 13 inches long. (measure along side edge of placemat), ending on a purl row. K 1 row, then knit 2 more rows.

Bind off in knit st.
Weave in yarn ends to back side of mat.

Dampen placemat and lay flat on a waterproof surface . With hands, smooth out sideways to even sts, and to a measurement of about 18 inches wide. (measure at both top and bottom of mat). Smooth up and down on mat to measure about 13 inches or so.The finished size is not too critical, but if you make more than one, be sure to smooth all others out to same finished size. Allow to dry thoroughly.

* You can make these in Holiday colors to dress up the table too!

Digging my files

I'm digging out my old files on my knitting projects..I finally missed knitting so much you know.. and I plan to start it back again. People say, when you stop doing it, you may forget what you learnt.
I started to learn the basic knitting way back in 2006, when I was pregnant at that time. Never thought of doing this "Matsalleh" needlework... but I have dreamt of learning it all my life, ever since I was in primary school. I've only learnt crochetting at primary Six (12years old), and I always wanted to learn knitting using the 2 straight needles.. Since that, I have a strong desire to learn the art someday... Until, I met Hannah.. my ex-collegue.
I didn't knew Hannah can knit, as I was just chit chatting with her about some needleworks, and she mentioned she made some sweaters when she was abroad... WOW! My dreams really came thru...
Without waiting.. I forced her to teach me how to knit, cos I looked around the internet to see stuffs on how to Knit, it was such a frustration. Its not easy to learn thru pictures & texts. I need a sifu and finally found one.
We quickly went to the shop to buy a pair of 4.5mm bamboo needles and a ball of cheap acrylic yarn, just to test out a few stiches.
Alas! I learnt how to KNIT & PURL!
Its not that hard anyway...

This is my first sentimental-value-work-of-the-art!

A Baby Blanket for my baby Maya.. and a pair of booties.

(the baby legs was modelled by Alisha Mehrnaz - Jirra's cute lil one)

The 3 bunch of crazy knitters in Sabah. I managed to influenced Neneth to knit! She was reluctant to learn it at first.. but after a while.. hahahah... terpengaruh suda..

Hannah showing off her scarf that she knitted especially for her special friend Elson, and neneth with a sweater for her son Hakim..

Hey.. We're in the internet you know!... See this link
