East meets West

CONGRATULATIONS!
To Priscilla & Raymond
for their wedding on 11 & 12 July 2009.
She is my very good friend since schooldays!
Church mass at Sacret Heart ..I miss attending this one... hahaha.. busy with my sewing machine... to finish up the night reception..
*sigh* finally completed... one down.. more to go!
This dress is very similar to the dress I made before this..
Although I've done this a few times.. but this time is more challenging..
(1)
I have to make 2 sets of dress for 5 girls = 10 dress
(2)
I have to get their measurements by email.. I have to trust their mom's measurement or typo error (only guide them by email)
(3)
I was only given their picture too, so that I can guess how exactly they look like physically.
(4)
I have 5 multi sizes to make - 14, 12, 10, 6 & 4 years old
No matter how hard it is.. I will strive hard to make it.. Like Bryan Adams said, "Everything I do.. I do it for YOU" (yes all of you out there too)

This is the back side ... the ribbon was a bit short, since the organza fabric is limited.. and I have no more time to go out to buy more.. This is the only length I got.. But, no fear.. I had bought for standby.. rolls of organza ribbons.. In case anything happen..

Haaah.. This is HARD! For me ... you should feel the softness of the fabric... veryyy soft...needs extra carefull ya... and hard to handle..heheh
(mind my lazyness, I didn't get it ironed before taking pics... sleepy oredi)

A speghetti strap dress with semi round flair skirt.. Looks easy...
but only God knows how hard it is for me ... needs practice..
I made the embelishment simple this time.. only play around with ribbons and bows... I didnt get the close up for the gold dress bow ribbon has a tiny butterfly on it

Look at the cute lil girls in the dresses I made... not the girl in black, (the Kadazandusun traditional costume). I plan to make one for my lil Maya with a Dusun Lotud costume(coming soon.. dunno when)

Arent they pretty.. Mix multi-racial ... Malaysian & France

This cute girl is Azizah 6.. my good ol-pal Syedatul's daughter.. sexy oo..

Sweet Aishah loves to pose with Maya.. but this Maya never wants to sit still... She always avoids the paparazzi nowadays!
Very hard to get good shot of her..
See the dress they wear... a same batik dress we bought from an expo exhibition at our office building. It was supposed to be RM15 per pair.. but we got it for Rm10 each..

Finally completed

I finally completed my part-time 3 months dressmaking course held by Pusat Giat Mara, Penampang. With a very short period, we covered 7 modules: -

(1) Baju Melayu Cekak Musang,
(2) Men's Slacks,
(3) Modern Baju Kurung,
(4)Kebaya asli,
(5)Batik Men's shirt, and
(6) & (7) 2 types of womens skirt.

This is my Kebaya.. wow.. how come its so petite & not XXXL size?

haha.. dont get fooled by the mannequine.. the dress is MY size.. only by the help of pins that makes it slimmmmmmmmmm...

(sorry about the photo quality.. I just found out the camera lenses has Maya's fingerprints on it...)

This is the skirt... arrghh.. how on earth did I take this photo.. can't really see how it looks like exactly... I'll take the photo again when we get this back...

This is my old post.. the Baju Kurung Modern
And the skirt..

This is my man's batik shirt... Cool.. 1st time makin men's shirt.. not so bad..

Hah! This is the hardest one! Men's slack... If my hubby asked me to make one for him again.. I'd rather buy..

It has sooo many itsy bitsy parts .. pockets, waist bands, fly.. arrrrghhh... why do men need all this thing??

A baju Melayu Cekak Musang... this also needs a lot of patience & tidyness..

And.. lastly.. this is not in the module, but since I have spare time after I finished up my modules, I helped out the full-time students there to sew a nurse's uniform. Although I didn't manage to draft pattern & cut material.. at least I get the chance to sew the tops.

I will try one some day..

Sew quiet

Hi there! I've been sew very the very quiet lately.. Why? Cos I lost my voice! I have been sick nearly the whole month... my flu & cough passing over to Maya .. and passing it back to me.. Until my voice are gone...Yeah.. believe it or not.. my voice still rocks!

Maya has also on and off going to school. Poor Maya, she lost some weight due to her heavy flu & cough.

This is Maya in her new pair of her school sports attires. She was excited to wear it for the first time, I guess she feels like she's in the 'crowd'...

BUT... ahaaaa!!!! Only excited for a little while.. now she gets hold of her blankie & soft pillow. Yeah.. she will bring all these to school. Even the huge cushion pillow .. ! She will definitely grab any items she saw before she leaves the house..

Nah.. nah.. she is starting to get worried... "Pigi tempat nenekmama saja, tamau skola" (means, I want to go to granny's place, I don't want to go to school).
Hmm...what can I say, I have no choice but to send her to school.. She'll get over it.. although she cried a bit when sending her... after that, she's ok..

A bit tiring nowadays.. my laundry seems to increase everyday eversince Maya start school. She was trained not to wear diapers now, so, her spare pants & towels will definitely get wet .. AND i had to even wash her bag. Too bad her bag I made was not waterproof, so it can get dirty or wet easily..
Luckily I had extra bag for her.. hmm.. what the heck I buy a white bag for... easy to get it dirty.. Well.. I just like it.. plain white.. at least I can put her name on it..

Whoaah.. whos dat alien??!!!!

Sinta or Cinta

Its baby Sinta... thats the name of my old friend Aisah who came to visit me while she was on her "balik kampung" vacation with her family.. So trully sorry Aisah that you had to wait sooooo long to get your goodies.. what can I say.. I am only human.. please do accept my lame delay on your orders.. Another diaper stacker.. for your boy Deni.. sori yaa.. (dia besar suda..)
This one is actually by request to embelish her lil cardie cover which is originally plain pink with no embroidery on it.. So I thought of putting some lil flowers and her name on it..

And also I've replaced the ribbon which is accidentally torn off..
TADA... good as new!

A complimentary gift for my old close friend.. just a simple face towel...

Aisah.. I missed you so much..! We have known each other long enough...we are like sisters.. May our relationship last till the end of our lives...

One sick ..two sick ..3 sick rock

Arrggh.. hate it when my tonsils swollen & terrible cof-cof ... Same goes to my lil Maya who is on & off fever-cough-flu.. everyone is sick lately.. Hope it'll go off soon.. I need rest which I can never get .. *sigh* Luckily Maya loves taking her medicine..
I had sorethroat too... my voice turns very deep husky & sexy voice..har..har..har..
You should hear me sing..

Mischievous borrower

"Now this dress is mine..!" says lil Maya... No.. no.. this dress is not hers.. I just put it on her to test out the size if she fits.. Actually this dress was made for Aishah, Neneth's lil girl. She was assigned to be a flower girl for Neneth's sister's wedding.
I made two pairs.. another one is for her cuz Balkis, 7yrs old. I'll see if I can get their real pictures wearing it...

Luckily I have one model who can test it out to see if there is anything wrong with my cuttings.

Gold satin with cream colored waist band... matched with satin roses made from the same fabric.. I will make this similar flower girls dress some time soon for my best friend wedding, Cilla. So far this style is still a favourite...
If anyone has some other design you can suggest me to make, I can sure try for Cilla's flowergirl's 2nd night event set.

Diaper stacker & towels

Here are some towels & a diaper stacker ordered by Yone as a gift for her friend. She was not sure of what color theme she wants for the baby boy Hafeez. So I come up with this mix pastel color cotton fabric

Just a simple applique star embroidered with his name on it...

Hafeez everywhere...

Hope she likes it..

Oppss.. this is not Hafeez... hmmm... she just love to "sibuk" around my stuff..

Rolled Hem

What is a "rolled hem"? Rolled hem is a hem that is rolled.. har.. har..har.. I don't know how to describe what is it exactly. It works best if you have limited & too tiny hem allowance .. and it saves you a lot of time.. Its neat because the fabric are rolled inside without any need to serge..

All you need is a hemming foot (see pic above). Some sewing machine does not have accessories especially for extra presser feet.. But my Janome comes with 15 presser feet (if I count the number right.. ) for free..

This is an alteration process of my friend Auntie J's dress.. she needs it shorter a bit... So, I just shorten the length of the dress and sew this rolled hem to it..

I prefer rolled hem on dresses, blouses, ruffles, linings, tablecloths, scarves and any tiny hems, not only its neat but it can be a stylish way to finish your final touch-up...
Its so easy to make.. but needs practice, cos it might not come out as you wanted... if you have lost patience... I tell you..!

Towels out

My lil Maya day at the nursery was ok now.. she cried for a while when sending her in the morning, but once she's in, she's ok.... She had to start practicing her potty training now. I realised that when I found her used pants damp with her shee shee.. and smelly towels too.

I embroidered her old towel last nite, to tag it with her name on it. I have to label every items, so that it won't get mixed up with the others. Yesterday her shoes went missing... I guess someone might have accidentally worn her shoes ... Hmm.. I wish i can embroider her shoes..hahaha.. yer rite!

The design above is a cute baby on a wagon. The big M font is an applique design and used a printed striped red & white felt fabric. Looks easy.. but the estimated time for this embrodery is 57 minutes. Not including my own sweet time changing colors etc ... sure is a lot of work to be done..

I'm getting more addicted to make more of this crazy embroidery... my itchy hands keeps on searching on the web for cute design... hehehe.. I guess there is no end to this addictive hobby.. Too many ideas in mind since my girl went to nursery... Now I'm thinking of making her something to wear...

Maya is going to school...

Oh my poor Maya, she has to go thru schooling at early age of 2yrs 6months. I hv no choice but to send her to a day care centre... since my mom is not well to take care of her..

I had to prepare her stuff to bring over.. a last minute job... a simple tote bag... a bath towel & face towel embroidered her name on it.. I didn't manage to do it on the bag...

Here is Maya at the nursery... she surely know how to peek around the place... I bet she likes the place.. She surely do like the playground...

Getting comfortable sitting on the bench table while waiting for the principal Teacher Lina, to register her in...

What is this? Pee-ka-boo! I see you! "Maya monkey" <-- says Maya.
I hope she will continue going to school from tomorrow onwards. When I called her principal today, she said Maya was ok so far as for now (lunchtime). They are going to take their bath soon. According to teacher Lina, she cried a bit off & on in the morning after I left her.. But now she's ok...
Normally, parents were advice to send them for half day only .. especially on the first few days.. But since I have no one to take care of her.. and my leave has totally run out... so I have to leave her there until afternoon. As long as she's ok, said the teacher... she'll be fine..

Hope she'll be happy...
I LOVE YOU MAYA!

Aishah's embroidered pants

Wah.. I never thought it would turn out great... hehheeh (pat on my back). Even my Maya doesn't have embroidered pants yet.... Someday..
These pants are not made by me... it is trully handmade by Neneth! The only part that is mine is the embroidery... I hv too many designs to be tested out... Only thing that is lack is time.

Maya & Aishah

Two beautiful names for two precious pumpkins... Maya & Aishah
My Maya & Neneth's Aishah...
Neneth and I went for grocery shopping one day when we saw some cheap children wear on sale...we thought of buying our daughter a same piece.. until we found this white long-sleeved t-shirt with butterfly applique on it. This t-shirt sure is adorable!

So I embroidered their names on it....
For Aishah

For Maya Zahirah

TIP OF THE DAY:
Do you know that a fabric pen has its eraser?? Maybe some of you might not know.. I don't know about it either in the first place.. I bought it long time ago.. but I forgot to test it out...

See the lines I that I've drawn on the fabric as a marker line.. It can easily wiped off in no time.
There are 2 types of pen - air erasable & water erasable..
If you're using air erasable, you don't have to clean it, it will dissapear in a few minutes. But sometimes it won't come off that instant... So it is useful to have this pen eraser, for instant cleanup.
And as for water erasable pen, you can only clean it off by washing.. So, if you are sewing stuff for your friend or customer, you wont have to worry about your ugly temporary markings any more.. Just erase it... TADA! off it goes...

"Baju Malu Malu"

Recently my lil Maya likes to take off all her clothes... for no reason.. could be the weather is too hot.. or sometimes when she spills a little water on her dress.. she will definitely pull down her t-shirt from the neck until her chest and leave it there exposing her shoulders... and said "malu.. malu.. kan mama?" -- meaning "shame on me, right mama?" Too bad i didnt manage to capture her shots when she did that.. by the time i got my cam.. everything is off already!

So I made this "malu malu dress" for her so that she won't expand her t-shirt neck bands...

A simple cotton shirred dress, using an elastic thread inside.

At least she's happy.. but she refuses to wear this long though... I guess she feels too exposed.. and shy to wear it..

Sew inspiring books

Finally I got my book a few weeks ago.. I was hunting for this book all around town and KL too.. couldn't find it... Its good to buy books at Amazon, when you are really looking for your inspiring books..no hassle. Not sure how much it cost at the local bookstore.. could be more expensive or could be cheaper.. I'm sure some of you got this book too.. Thats where I got my influence from...

This is what I always look into a book.. FREE PATTERNS!!

And I also love this doodle embroidery.. although computerised embroidery machine can do this job perfectly & faster.. But nothing compares to hand embroidery.. I really admire those who have the in-born skills to make beautiful hand-sew embroidery. That is truly original work of art.

Damages done

Do you know that ironing is a good excercise?? And you should never let your kitten iron your precious garments yaa??? or.. ..? THis is what will happen.... when damages done... cry me a river!!!!!!!!

Its not mine actually... it belongs to a friend of mine name Tweety Tandhoori Sanggam.. who was too lazy to iron her own clothes... and asked her kitty cat to iron her precious Churidhar dress.... see... I told ya.. never to trust a cat Tweety Bird!!

Luckily the damaged part was only the pants. There was only 2-3 spots of cracks on the fabric. I was supposed to hand sew it, but the fabric was too fragile, I was a bit worried it will get worst if not handle carfully. Finally, my problem solved.. my Janome MC350 saves my life.
So i was thinking of putting an iron on fusible fabric on the inside to secure the fabric from breaking off.

FInally ... Tada!!!!!! This is how it looks like after the "cover-up". Luckily I have flower designs which is quite similar to the embroidered top design.

So.. the plain colored pants has extra designs now..

Holes & cracks covered.

Seemless cracks... beauty of embroidery...

*Phew* ...!
I saved the pants for this Churidhar...!
P/S: Tweety... put it on and take a pic ya!

Modern Baju Kurung

A trial dressmaking - Baju Kurung Moden or A Modern Baju Kurung for myself... whoahh!... its an XXXXL size..hehehe..I made this "Baju Kurung Moden" during my dressmaking class at Giat Mara. I'm so happy I can now draft my own bodyfit pattern, (although I cannot fit into tight fitting garments of course), now I have learned how to make proper measurement & draft a pattern. Just the very basic... But with this little basic, I hope I can do more style in future.. Still got a lot to learn! The skirt has fan pleates at the back. On top of that, I have learned to make skirt with semi-elastic waist bands at the sides. Very interesting technique indeed. I never made this before you know... All this while I can only make an elastic-all-around-waist skirt. At least now.. I can do nicer waist bands... with hooks.

As for the neck opening, I don't know what do you call this shape.. some say its a "sweetheart" neck. Not that easy with this very silky thin & hard-to-handle fabric... I guess I'll just have to learn the hard way... in case if I were to sew satin dress.. at least I have done my practice.
Finished my 2nd project with Giat Mara dressmaking, next class we're going to make trousers for men. Wow! This is hard...

Iron not for sale

I made my 3rd block last night.. and I just can't wait to iron it using my cute lil iron..!! See how tiny it is??

My completed 3rd block

See what I bought recently during an exhibition here at my office building.. Its an iron! Not ordinary iron.. Its tiny.. but it can iron any materials without getting it burnt!.. It was said to have some chip inside that can detect the right temperature for any fabric.. Even if you forgot leave the iron hot on your fabric.. it will never burn.. But yet.. no pressure needed.. just sprinkle a bit of water... It will smoothen your fabric.. just like ordinary iron..

THis is Noah's ark... heheh.. its a wooden iron... for kids..! NO LAH! This is.. i dunno what its called.. but its meant for holding (weights) your fabric from slipping off while ironing those slippery fabrics. It works best if you were ironing seams, or anything that difficult to hold while ironing.. Cool eh?? It is special made my a profesional carpenter.

See my irons.... Makes my life easier... Sorry not for sale... The tiny one.. they have no agent in Malaysia, as it is directly flown from Taiwan. But the wooden one... can be arranged if you want... The blue steam iron.. negotiable with 2nd hand price.. hahaha..

Ugly Hands

Ouch!! So silly of me playing around with SUPER GLUE!! (or we call it Gam Gajah). Wonder how did my hands turn out that bad. Very painful .. you know! What have I done??

Well.. I made this silly BOX!!
p/s: Jaja.. I need you!!!

I told my self last night.. I'm not going to make any box anymore!!!! "Susah la wehh..!"

Silly but pretty box isn't it?? Wah.. proud of myself of getting this big box done! A bit messy and not really nicely done.. but I don't care.. as long as it can fit my special gift for a couple who is getting married today.. I'm going to their wedding tonight..

See what I've made last night.. Of course a last minute work.. I never thought of any gift yet until yesterday, I got the idea of buying a pair of bathtowel & bedsheets... as a wedding gift..

The only thing that makes it special is the embroidery part "Selamat Pengantin Baru, Izz & Imah" which means Happy Wedding to Izz & Imah. Nice??

Good enough for me.. at least I got my experiencing ruining my hands too! Any way I can remove this stain from my hands?? Help!!

Nice fella, as usual, we were just like good old friends.. even though we never met in person before.. but virtually we are friends!

Shirt for my man

I made this Malay Traditional costume shirt called "Baju Melayu Cekak Musang" during my part-time sewing courses at Pusat Giat Mara Penampang, for the past few weekends. My first adult shirt for men.. Previously I made for kids only.
I showed this to my dad too, with a big smile, he said "Wahh.. this year I don't have to spend RM80 for my new set of Baju Melayu for Raya then!" <--what is that suppose to mean?? hehehe.. more charity work ya..! I would love to sew it.. its the time thats beating me all the time.. We're supposed to learn to make the trousers for man to match this top, but the lesson will continue right after our next lesson which is "Baju Kurung". I can't wait to make baju kurung, kebaya, Batik Shirt for men, and skirts.... Finally, I get the chance to learn how to make attires for adults. Isn't that great.. ehmm... no orders yet yaa.. ahah.. I have no confidence for adults wear yet..!

I miss shopping... I want to do this kinda shopping again!! Yes.. it has to be "ladies only" ..
Here we are at SAKURA - SS19 Subang Jaya.

Smiling of course with my favourite stuff on the cashiers desk waiting to be punched in..

Hah.. I love these fat quarters too..

Additional Info of location:
Sakura -- SS19 Subang Jaya
Yee Button/Craft World -- SS2 Petaling Jaya

More that that, I'm not sure myself, might be good idea to ask those who are familiar with those area ya..!

And the best of all.. look at these two crazy ladies sitting on the floor flipping thru the japanese sewing books...

Too bad Tini was not in the pic.. cos she's the one taking pic.. But it was weird tho.. I had my own camera.. but I was too busy with all these stuff until I forgot to use my own camera!!! THAT SHOWS.. how crazy I am seeing all these stuff..

Theres more places we went.. but.. too crazy.. until we didnt take any photos... too bad.
But the memories remains.. I miss you guys Sheila & Tini.

Thanx Tini for these memorable pics..

Work in progress

What have I done lately....?? Hmm.. not much actually. I force myself to have a rest.. it has been quite tiring & stressfull lately.. My HBB embroidery courses, personal orders, "Giat MARA" course during weekends, EPAL projects, house chores, bla.. bla.. bla..... so many things pending... as I don't want to drag my procastination... Sometimes I feel I need time with my family.. But sewing is still my greatest passion..

As time goes by, I need to slow down a bit. Especially my lil girl has been in the "terrible twos" stage...arrrgghh.. really stressfull at times... She can't even sit down nicely within 30 seconds! That leaves me tiring days ahead!

No matter what.. sew must go on.. Really sorry to friends out there who are really waiting patiently for their stuffs.. Deeply apologise for such prolong delay...I'll start my gears up now...

This is my latest order in hand, looks easy.. but its not that easy.. you know.. I hope Rini can bear with my "take my time".. I'm supposed to make her a baby quilt for her newborn nephew, a pair of pillow case, a bolster case & a diaper stacker. Wow.. thats a lot of work..! Thats y I need more time..

Sorry picture is not that clear... heheh.. tired hands in the middle of the night.. taking pics. I need to sew up the borders.. and then I can complete the whole set ASAP. I'll show you soon..

A day in KL

Oh how I wish I had stayed in KL longer.. but what can I do.. I can't leave my baby behind too long.. (hehehe.. makes me homesick).. Before I share with you my main event at KL.. lemme show you what I have snatched with only short period...
My journey to KL was really fun! THanks to Shiela Nice2Craft & Tini Snazzy&Such who had devoted their precious time for me... a total stranger from Sabah. It was such a surprise though, we haven't even met before this.. first time! First date I might say...! Wow.. I was a bit nervous at first... but it turns out to be different from what I have expected. Believe it or not... we seems to be like just like good old friends!
I'll post up the picture of us later.. As for now.. I can't wait to share with you what I've got.. Sure is heaven..These are some of the stuff I bought from Sakura & Yee Button (Craft world).. Errr.. yess.. I do buy nonesense stuff.. wonder when can I use 'em.
Some fabrics I bought from there too... some metres, some quarters and some fat quarters... Only managed to buy very small quantity.. Wanted to get more.. greedy me..!AAnd not forgetting... Sue Bonnet fabric for quilt... Aren't they cute??
*SIGH* I just loved books! But this time I didnt get any English books.. turn out to be Japanese all! hah! Who cares, I love japanese books..

This is the only bookstore we had managed to set my foot on... Kinokuniya, KLCC.
FELTS... are my favourite too! I bought 'em from Daiso, the Curve.

What do I need this for???? Hah... who cares.. I love it cos its cute... I just cant resist stuff from Daiso... all RM5! Cute pegs isn't it??

Ahhh.. I forgot the fabric I bought from Ikea as well... hmm.. next time then...

A gift from an angel

I received a surprise parcel from an angel a few weeks back, a friend from a faraway land of Texas, a beautiful lady named Rhonda. I can't believe I received such a big gift from her.. I admit I can never buy such luxary fabrics .. although I bought a few online.. but of course i ran out of budget since then.. So I bought whichever I can afford to get here at my place.
I still cannot believe Rhonda would share some of her fabrics... Wow this is HEAVEN!!! I don't know how to repay you for your kindness Rhonda. God Bless you & thank you ...

Oppss.. the box was a bit squashed.. but still in one piece.

Wow.. look at how much this shipping costs.. :-O

Look at that curious lil hand!!! Oh no.. Maya is always busy body with new stuff... she'll say.. "Yay..!! Menan..!!" --> meaning "Yay! Toys!!!"

See all these fabrics!!! I have not got the time to rearrange the stash yet.. yeah.. I don't want my "assistant" to interfere with my precious fabrics!!
Rhonda has given me a pattern too.. and tips on sewing/cutting tricks.
Wow! I have a lot to learn now!.

I'm back!

Hi all!! Sorry for my absense.. Missed me already? I missed you all too! I've been away lately.. to KL... eheheh.. not for long.. I wish I can stay there longer... but my Maya really had missed me... I can't stand being apart from my lil girl.. This is my first time... Oooh.. I feel terrible to leave my baby behind! She was ok on the first day.. but the 2nd day.. she started calling my name looking for me, said hubby... When I called ... she keeps saying.. mama... mama..mama... Oh no.. I started to cry myself.. not her..
The worst thing, my hubby told me she refused to eat, milk and she started to keep quiet all by herself.. She didnt cry.. but she really showed that she misses her mom so much... I even brought her t-shirt with me.. to heal my homesick... I hope I don't have to leave her behind next time.. But what can I do.. I had to go on...
I'll update more soon.. gimme some time to get organised.
Cheerio!

Cute

I can't wait to sew those lil cute machine embroidery motifs.. I hv not purchase any designs yet.. since the price was a bit too much for me.. So I can only search for free designs on the net...

These cute ones was given by a friend, Kak D. Thanks for your kind thoughts of sharing some of your cute collections.

I also found this very interesting magazine about machine embroidery.. I was wondering how this magazine could give much of help.. But guess what.. it has links to those sites which offer really cute & free designs too! Saves me a lot!.. But tempted me to purchase their beautiful designs too... hmm...

DIY Photo frame

Neneth & I was thinking of a last minute gift for our friend Sheila. Since we never met Sheila in person, neither does she.. so we thought of giving a surprise gift.. A photo of both of us.. hahahah.. her virtual far away friend.. (yeahh... yeahh.. funny huh?)

How is it? Nice?? hahahahah...
How did I make it?? Maybe you want to do your last minute photoframe yourself... Here are some informal tutorial or the making of...

JURRA's Foto Frame!

1. Get a box or cardboard or what I use here is a Mounting board (thanx to Jaja who introduced me to this alien thing.. Never knew they sell this.. Jurra was so ignorant about this craft thingy)

2. Cut 2 pieces of your prefered size, 1 piece cut into a frame like shape above.

3. Prepare your fabric (sorry I dun have exact measurement cos I just simply cut as long as it can cover the frame).

4. I cut into 4 stripe, and then I sew it together to form the 4-sides

5. Then..opss I missed one picture -- I cut some leftover 6mm sponge to make a cushion at the front of the frame. Glue it to the frame.

6. Next, put the fabric on top of the sponge, glue it to the back side.

7. Yucks.. glue is so messy.. I wish I had a glue-gun.. I guess it will make my life easier..

8. For the back frame, I sew the fabric around like a bag and then turn it inside out.

9. Slide in the back board inside the fabric case & glue to cover the openings.

10. Embelish the corners with lace or anything you fancy. I used lace for the border.. and lil rose buds and butterfly to make it a bit alive...!

11. Lastly, stick together the front & the back frame with super glue.. so that it wont come off

12. Remember to attach a handle to it, any string or ribbon can do... So that you can hang it.

AND TADA!!!!

Don't forget to put your very most gorgeous picture inside!!

Happy Belated Birthday SHEILA!

She was born on 12 Feb 197-dot-

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Hmm.. I made these too..

Hey.. not bad eh? I made this myself... Sworovski crystals are soo beautiful.. Although I don't really fancy accessories.. but I do love to wear 'em once in a while.. I learnt this from Epal too.. This one is the January Crystal project, but I only got the chance to learn to tie it recently.. I bought 2 projects and the other one is a necklace, but I let my niece to learn making it.. I'll take a photo soon..

I made these bags last night... Similar technique like my diaper bag.. the only difference is that these bags have no extra pockets like a diaper bag.

It can be a shopping bag, casual bag or a handbag.. or stuff-everything-in-a-bag

I wonder if these bags are able to sell

Book of the day..

I went for window shopping last weekend at 1 Borneo with my cuz & maya.. and found a new bookstore recently opened - Harris. Luckily I'm a Popular Bookstore member... Harris is also in Popular's family... So I get 10% discounts of any purchase. My itchy hands just cannot resist by not grabbing at least something.. THis is MUST HAVE thing ... a sewing book...!

This is a new book published in 2008 WOW!!! thats new! Its also cheap.. errr.. well.. this is the cheapest sewing book on the shelf - RM 47.90 if i'm not mistaken...

Why I like this book so much is because.. its not only focus on dressmaking.. it also featured the sewing machine technique & know-hows.. and of course.. my JANOME has these features as well... Isn't that great! All sorts of new & advanced creative technique as well..

And also my serging machine.. MyLock 744D... wow.. this is a good "bible"

All sorts of applique..

All sorts of fashion style.. yadda.. yadda.. yadda... How I wish I can tell you the whole story... Time is precious.. I'm hungry now.. tata!@

Sweet Yellow dress

Made this yellow dress last night for Sindut. Last minute work again.... Nothing much on the cutting.. As this is her choice of fabric & pattern..for just a simple dress with linings. It does look sweet after all.. even though no ribbons or anything to embelish it.. it sure is sweet to me..

A "Nyonya Jual Sayur" Hat

Hahahaha... I dunno wat to name this hat.. My hubby said "nyonya jual sayur" hat meaning a hat worn by an elderly Chinese lady who sells vegetables.
I'm supposed to make a hat for Maya, cos she must wear a hat whenever we go out. I guess she's used to it.. Tried to hunt for readymade hat.. but can't find any.. perhaps no other toddlers in KK wears a hat like Maya..

I dont have patterns on hats.. so i just imitate a picture of a hat from a magazine... It works alrite... BUT.. its tooo big for Maya.. It covers half her face..hehehe... I'll have to make another one that can fit her now.. I will keep this for next 6 months... she'll fit by then I hope.

Ribbons are beautiful

I just love ribbons! Ribbon embroidery (RE) is a very fine art of embroidery... Wish this one is my very own handmade... Dream on girl.. (errr.. I bought this)... I wonder when can I start making one for my own? This RE handbag is made by Maklang, from Kerteh Trengganu. Beautiful indeed... I love it.
I also bought an RE kit for my own to practice (are you sure Jurra?? you're taking RE online classes and yet nothing has been done so far..) ... hehehe
PS: Maklang or Kak Umi... gimme a lil "kick" to get my homework done!!! So lazy me...

And lastly, Maklang has given me this very meaningful gift, all handmade from her kind heart.. Its a Yassin covered by a handmade flowery fabric cover & tasbih made of glass beads.
Thank you Maklang for your kind thoughts... also thank you for being my friend. We will meet someday. Insya Allah..!

Didi's 3 beautiful princess

I feel honoured when the dress I made has been worn by the "superstars". The 3 dresses was initially ordered from Mrs Badak as a X'mas gift for her friend Didi to her 3 adorable girls.

Here is Didi's story about her 3 girls:

Hello Mazura,

How are you? I am Didi, Jocelyn's friend, who is Mommy to the three Girls whom you made beautiful dresses for last Christmas.

My Children absolutely loved the dresses as it made them feel like Princesses. My Youngest One didn't want to take the dress off ever! Jo and I had to tell her that it was to wear for the very special occasion of Christmas before she wanted to take it off.

Attached with this email are photos of the dresses as worn by my Girls. I've also included a photo of them wearing the dresses at a stage performance during the Gaya Street Christmas Carnival. We decided they were so beautiful that they were perfect for the stage show.

Thank you again for all your expertise. The dresses truly are a delight to wear.
Enjoy!

Best regards,

Didi Wong

Adorable aren't they? I'm "sew" happy when people are happy!
Read more of Didi's

Whats next?

I have soo many things in mind.. feel like doing all.. but *sigh*.. sew much things.. sew little time!! For EPAL project, had to put aside some.. only did as much as I can.. if I could I wish I can do ALL 24 projects.. Next in hand is this ABC wall hanging.. I was thinking .. I want to make this into a quilt for my lil Maya.. but..I wanted to hang this on the wall too.. just right next to Maya's bed.. I know she would love to read the A-B-C.. She can sing the whole ABC song now.. she pronounced it a bit clearer now... Hmm.. see how things going. I'll decide later..

I miss my knitting toooooo!! Long time I didnt buy this magazine again.. I wonder what happen to my booking orders at Penguins Bookstore.. They didn't call me anymore for the latest issue of SIMPLY KNITTING which I've booked. I guess they have shipping problem or they don't order it anymore.. Hah.. well.. I have other alternatives... Got this from Signature..

I got the Simply Knitting diary 2009! Cute... (sayang lah... nak conteng)

This is cute... Huaaawww... :(( I wonder when can I spare my time knitting now... I've promised 1 cardi for Danish & 1 for Alicia ... I guess they have grown much bigger now..

I must get their new measurement now... Sorry my friends.. I must finish up my sewing fast.. then I can spare some time knitting..

Whoaaahhh!!! I like this one..!! Can I or can I not??

Now I love this book by Amy Butler..! I thought this would be a small paperbag book... I can't belive it is actually hardcover! And with pattern inside too!

A gift from a new friend

I received this precious gift from kak Diah. I have only met her on the blog.. As a token of her kind heart, she has sent me a pincussion specially handmade by her own self. I really admire her work... full of art. Get to know her... She is such an idol for me.. Thank you Kak Diah..

Strawberry Lunch Bag

This is the December project.. I have delayed quite a few projects due to other sewing requests that have been on queue for quite a while now..heheh.. sorry 'bout that frens!! I promise.. I will finish your orders the sooooonest I possibally can...

No matter what.. I still need to finish my Epal projects ASAP too!.. Yeah.. too many commitments.. But I enjoyed it...

This is it... I finally got it done yesterday.. It has a bag, with a water bottle tote & a mat with pocket. Cute isn't it.. But the color supplied for this kit was a bit dull I might say... I was hoping for a cuteeee pink & red color... but... arrghh.. what the heck.. its the learning process which is more important.. You can be more creative when you make your own next time..

The inside of the bag, i love the pocket too!

BUT!!!! Uh-ohhh..... I FORGOT TO INSERT THIS BOARD INSIDE THE BOTTOM PART!!!..
arrrggghhhh!!! HELP.. don't tell me to un-pick the stitches & put it back in!!!..
*sigh* silly me!

BUT.. One thing I never missed out... My Sew Cute label...hahahaha...

This will be my lil girl milk bottle warmer..ehhehe

Patchwork handbag

This is the November project I did finally completed yesterday.. Quite an interesting technique I learnt from Epal. They call it Fireworks Patchwork handbag.. not sure why "fireworks", I guess the sparks pattern is like fireworks..

The beginning of "patchworking"...
TADA!! I made it!..

The Epal trainer Idah said my workmanship is very neat...
(whoaahhh!!!... kembang!!)

And I love the inside too!

And I finally used my bias tape maker... so very easy to use! Now I can make better bias for my smocking dresses..

My very own diaper bag!

Finally I made my own diaper bag for Maya... Quite hard to find the right diaper bag in stores.. so I made it just rite for me. At least it doesn't really look like a diaper bag... More like a handbag when you see it..

It can fill all these too...!This is how it looks inside... I wanted to make more pockets & with zippers.. well.. next time.. This is a last minute work.. I made it on new years eve.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!!!

Apple Green Diaper Stacker

I just love colors ...
Its quite rare for those who might pick the color green as their favourite.. But I think green is nice! Cooling.. fresh & natural.. Hmm.. sorry about my hp camera is starting to get nasty.. The pics are not like the real WUSIWUG.. Its supposed to be a bright apple green in color. Although it is bright, it is still sweet, as the white background blends the color to be bit more softer.

I hope the "mom-2-b" loves this gift from Sindut. According to Sindut, she (the mother to receive this gift) loves this type of green. ( I hope)

Made some "urgent I want now" diaper stacker.... ahhaha... Thats wat I call it... instant & unplanned orders.. Hmm.. I know.. I know.. this is cutting queue... but *sigh* its very hard to say no... cos I consider every request is important ... I guess, its best to fix a due date.. but sometime when fixing a date can be frustrating.. when I can't deliver it on time.. I really hope to those who has given me the "take your time" orders... I deeply apologise for the delay.... I'm doing the best I could to make the very... very... very best with my own two hands.. (hmm.. sounds familliar.. who's blog name was that??)

I just love give aways...! Want to join the fun? Go visit Daisy Quilts now..! SHe is celebrating her 1st year blogging anniversary. CONGRATULATIONS!

Very nice quilts, knits & sewing stuff she made!

Baby dress set

I made this last nite.. last minute.. You know me.. all in the last minute.. that is all the time I have left... Please mind my loads of pending orders.. Due to very limited time, I have to squeeze my time last nite to cut & sew the balance of the previous dress I made for Mrs Badak.

This dress is for Mrs Badak's precious Jewel. I hope she can fit this dress, cos I don't have her measurement. My only guide is my McCalls patterns for babies. This size is the smallest - size S. Not sure if Jewel can fit into it... since the pattern is American size.

*sigh* I need rest.. (:

What have I done lately?

Hi there? Long time no update.. I was quite busy lately at work.. tied up with our company Family Day last Saturday Dec 13. Too many errands to be done, but I can still contribute this big red ribbon for the Family day deco. I made a pair of this red ribbon for the main door entrance. Sorry I didn't get the chance to take a pic of it hanged on the glass door... This is just the last minute snapshot for blogging purposes..ehehhe

Well... why red ribbon? Hmm ... actually x'mas is just around the corner, so they suggested the family day to have some x'mas feel ... at least, the ribbon can be recyled for the office deco during x'mas.

Baju Melayu Cekak Musang

I finally completed the Malay traditional costume suit for boys.. made this one for my niece's 3 lil boys, customed made for her brother's wedding reception this coming Saturday. Her kids will be "page boy" or "flower boys" (hahah... is that the right word??) during that event...

This is for the youngest dude named Adam - aged 9 months
The shirt above with round colar neck (Baju Melayu Johor) matched with pants.

Here's for the trio heroes... from size S - Adam 9 mnths, M - Haziq 3 yrs, & L - Aiman 5 yrs old.

Closer view of the 'Mandarin collar" shirt. I guess adult size is easier to sew compare to tiny ones...
*Phew* .. I slept at 4am this morning! 3 down.. more to go...!

Luckily it fits 'em all...

More dresses for girls

Very tied up with a few orders.. and I have due orders by this week (I hope I can finish 'em by Friday) - which is 3 dresses & 3 Baju Melayu Cekak Musang.
This is the only dress managed to sew for Mrs Badak last night but still 95% completed -- ribbons not attached yet. This dress is made from a non-cotton fabric (I don't know what its called.. all materials supplied by the owner), needs extra careful when sewing & cutting and with linings.

Arrgghh... please give me back my marathon mood to sew... I'm a bit lA2Y... lately..heehhe

Janome is the brand

I was selected to attend a 1 day course by Epal last October 08 and has been appointed as one of the sales agent for Janome sewing machine.

The course is mainly on the marketting plan and learn the know-how of some of Janome machine.
These are the 3 projects done during the course which uses the MyLock 744D & MC6500. Too bad we didn't had the chance to do a hands-on MC11000, as the machine was not at KK Centre at that time..

Some people may be confused that Janome is the sewing machine brand, Epal is the Creative Craft Learning Centre and Mostwell Sdn Bhd is company that run this biz. I really enjoyed being an EPAL member, cos its fun to do the free courses plus interesting projects.. and I can earn more from it..

So I am now an agent... (hehehe .. is that for real).. I sell sewing machines...

Upon completing the 1 day course, I received my certificate of attendance. My first cert from Mostwell Sdn Bhd. I'm very new to EPAL, I've been with EPAL since end of July, only 4 months.. but I learn quite a lot!.

And the most important thing is.... I get some $$$ ... This is my 2nd cheque.. I forgot to get a snapshot of my 1st cheque that reached RM500++. How do I get the $$ from?? Its all in the effort.. i received bonus commision my sales.. and some of it is only bonus from the stuff I bought from Epal. I don't loose a thing from every cents I spent at Epal, as I will have bonuses in return.

Wanna know more? You know where to find me..

Learning starts from ZERO

Look at my lil Maya... curious to see how this thing works... I gave her a chance to touch it while I was bz sewing my "bedsheet pieces" project. I took my machine in front of the tv, as I know I can never get things done if I wait till she asleep. I want to train her to get used to see me sewing & control her not to disturb my work.

Wow.. she has good sense of imitating my work...

HEHEHEH.. good job Maya!

Yeah.. she sits on my lap when I was sewing. Although its a bit distracting.. but I do enjoy doing it with her... Not all the time.. but at least she had the exposure..

Customized Diaper stacker

Finally the diaper stacker has completed.. Special order of a customed-made diaper stacker .. I hope your wish has come true as requested ... Lydia..
Full view of the diaper stacker

Close-up view of the head part.. Manually hand-machine embroidered, with an aplique technique to beautify the design. Hey.. this is my first time sewing felt applique for a cartoon character - Sponge Bob. Does it really look like Sponge Bob Square Pants? heheh...
With some touch of sequins to embellish it..
*sigh* .. what a relieve.. I did it!!

I also made zippers for the opening part of the diaper stacker... I wanted to make a crochet flower that holds the zipper handle.. but not enough time.. So I put the roses buds instead...
Nice or not??

Its a nursing cover

After a few guesses... no one has the real correct answer.. Its a Nursing Cover. My very first time sewing it. Thanks to Lydia who requested for it.

Front view
Back view. But it can be a reversible cover. Both side can be used.

A D-shape ring used to adjust the required tightness..

Tadaaaa... Mommy of the year awarded to Neneth! the model.. hehehe.. hiding her 't*t".... is that for real??

Project of the month

Hahaha.. Spot the "missing" item in this patchwork clock... It only had my lucky number "3" on it.. Hahaha.. Yer rite..!
Is that an excuse for my laziness to do embroidery or beading on my handmade clock? To tell you the truth.. I have no patience in beadings.... I only managed to made number "3" using Japanese beads... and how about the rest?? err... let those people learn how to read the time with no numbers...
Next project for November -- Bedsheet! Again.. a touch of patchwork again.. but a different technique.. I'll show you how its done.. and how tedious it is to sew up 1,516 pieces of square blocks!! Wanna bet how long I can take to finish this.. Only God knows..!

This is a "Fireworks Patchwork Handbag". Another interesting patchwork design for handbags..

Work in progress

To be completed... Guess what will this turn out to be?

Frilled skirt

I made this frilled skirt for my niece Amim.. she's 10 yrs old.. Guess who was "perasan" trying to wear this skirt... who else.. Maya was jealous to see this skirt and wanted to wear it .. I didn't get to take her pic.. The skirt was high above her chest.. but the frills had made her feel "I'm a princess !! " I hope I can get her pics from my niece..

Thank you Snazzy&Such

I received the giveaway gift from Snazzy&Such the other day, and I was the 1st winner. Wow.. lucky me.. Surprisingly the parcel was quite big.. Whats inside? I received a tote bag, a fat quarter flowery fabric, a few beads, buttons, a roll of pink ribbon & Australian Homespun magazine.. cool eh??

hah! THis one is not free... I bought it from Snazzy&Such too. Polyfil fiber.. Hmm.. what do I do with this next? You'll see..

This one is a slash cutter.. no plans to make anything out of it yet.. soon, next year I guess... there will be a project in Epal which use this cutter. Its cheaper than Epal. Thats why I bought 'em.. But come to think of it.. I'll missed my PV for this cutter... :(

Mandarin collar blouse in action

Phewweeet! Look at my niece Alin (right) with her school teacher, during their school annual dinner. The blouse I've made fits hers nicely.. **PHEW**...!
Wow.. my niece had grown up! She's only 15... but she's taller than her teacher..!
Good luck for your PMR Alin! I hope you passed with flying colours!

My sailboat was hijacked!

I was thinking of hanging my Sailboat patchwork wallhanging project.. but look who's hijacking it??

Pink Mary Jane booties with Laced flower

Still the same old pink Mary Jane baby booties for 5-8months.. only difference is the lace flower embelishment

Happy Birthday my sweetie pie!

Maya turns 2 yesterday, 9th November 2008.
May Allah bless you always..
I love you Maya.

Mandarin collar blouse

Made this "very-hard-to-do" Mandarin collar blouse for my niece Alin, she has yet to see it. Err.. why I'd say its hard to make?? Yep.. indeed hard for me.. I guess you readers out there who is expert in sewing adult clothing will have no problems.. I had hard time drawing the draft pattern, had to refer so many books & notes & magazine to get it rite. The collar.. eewww... it has to be exact size to fit the body part. Also, this pattern has "princess cut".. This is hard... :(
I admit my work is not that neat yet. Still needs more practice.. Arrgghh.. when can I make perfect clothings for adults..?

Refference collection

I'm falling in love with RE (ribbon embroidery).. I wish I can concerntrate on this...it has such fine art.. No machine can replace a truly handmade embroidery...

Got this book from Indonesia... Shiela bought 'em for me.. wow.. great book.. its so beautiful!
Also got the writer's autograph..Love the beautiful colors...

I also bought some pattern notes... from Azura . Very useful notes... its written in Malay. So, for international readers.. we hope she will come up with a translated version in future.

Lipstick

I got this new lipstick of mine.. NOT! heheh.. no.. no.. no.. this is not a lipstick.. Its my new gadget...

What is this? Some of you might know what this is.. its another type of tailoring chalk.. There are all sorts of tailoring utensils available at stores.. but its all up to you to make use of it..

This chalk is refillable, it has a nozzle at the tip works like the tracing wheel, and the powdered filling will mark on to your fabric when you roll it.
Its practical, easy to remove, no stains at your hand and clean too. But the tracing is only temporary, once you dap on it.. swooosh.. off it goes...

Aaar.. this is what its called - Chaco Liner (white -- is the filling color, it has different colors - pink, blue.. or maybe many more..)

I was thinking if I could use the multi-color blackboard chalks.. just pound it into powder.. and fill it in.. I can even use talcum powder as the white refill..! Oh what a waste of buying the refill.. Never mind... at least I bought this for experiment.. next time I know how to refill it cheap!

Lil white kurung with bullion rose trimmings

This is the real model of the lil white kurung I've made for lil Misha from Singapore. Such an adorable baby, isn't she?

Ready to sail

Row.. row.. row your boat..

Gently down the streaaaamm...

Merrily..Merrily..Merrily..

Maya's is ready to dreammmm...

I finally finished my sailboat wallhanging project by Epal for the month of October. Err.. yes... wall hanging.. not a baby quilt.. But my lil Maya can't stop playing with it.. until she pulled it on to her when going to sleep.. Ok.. thats a hint.. I must make her a baby quilt..
If you noticed.. the wall hanging has "feng shui" or luck... can you see the lucky number 88? And it has sailboat, water.. and a lot more if you know how to look at it... More to Chinese believe that brings luck.. I hope I'll get good luck out of my sewing...

My next project in class in Patchwork clock, and its 80% done ..

Apple ric rac booties

Made this last nite.. Wanted to test out using my MyLock744D.. but ended up only used 10% of the serging machine.. Still using my normal Janome All-In-One. I need to fiddle around this machine .. lot more to explore.. I must try applique technique using MyLock... next time then..

This is the only part I used the MyLock744D. THe good thing is.. I sew the edges and at the same time it sewn the 2 pieces together.. Save time.. Its using 4 thread with 2 needles... So the stitches is quite neat

Bridesmaid dress

I forgot to post this dress I made early this month. Requested from the owner to take a pic with this dress on.. but still waiting..
FYI, this is my first time making a real dress for adult size.. Phew.. Thank God it turn out ok.. although I was a bit panicked at that time.. and had to rush to finish up my sewing before Hari Raya. Plus this challenging satin body fitting dress with linings...
Great challenge...

Cherry pink booties

Same baby booties pattern with only additional cherry on top. I wanted to sew my next booties with my MyLock744D...
Stay tuned...

More of MyLock744D creations

Here are some of the creative creations by using the serging MyLock744D machine.. Err.. sorry.. this is not my creations ya! Items are solely owned by Epal Craft Center KK.. for demo only..
Actually it is a combination of Janome My Craft 6500 and MyLock744D.. But some of the features are also available with the Janome Harmony All-in-One 2049 model... its all in your creative hands... Beautiful isn't it?
Now this patchwork design is great... with additional roses bouquet made by Janome MyLock744D . The roses really stands-out on top of the patcwork.. great design.. I must try one!

Hah.. this is the simplest patchwork from scrap fabric.. Simply cut your sraps... sew it together with MyLock744D... and once you open up the 2 fabric ... tada... patchwork done.. You don't even have to use your sewing machine to stitch up the fabrics... the serging machine can do all the work. Same goes to the frills... with just additional presser foot.. can simplify your work.

A nice applique technique... also by using Mylock744D

The last but not least.. I dunno what its called... I guess its for home deco.. or a fruit basket..

Amazing creation by serging machine

I made this frilled tissue box cover yesterday... within a few minutes.. Looks like ordinary sewing techniques, but can you ever imagine that I made it using a serging or overlock machine only??
Believe it or not.... No other machine used... only with my Janome MYLOCK 744D!
This is my baby Janome MyLock744D.. I never thought it can make frills like this?

This is another feature that MyLock744D can do... sewing beads, piping & patchwork... Can your serging machine do this??

Thanks to Epal who organised this beneficial workshop for all VIP members who has bought this serging machine in effort to educate them on the multiple function of this special machine.
Each of us attending the workshop had to bring our own machine. Which I think is good, so that if any problems with your machine.. the tutor can help to have a look..

This is my new friend Mas & me (right).

Other VIP members participating in the workshop.

Full view of my placemat I made from the workshop, made of simple cotton fabric, fusible web, piping tape with string and gold string beads. All made by MyLock744D serging machine...!

Also the fabric pieces are sewn as patchwork design... I hope I can do more with my srap fabric..! Soon... I'll show u..

This is the original sample of tissue box cover

Shopping mania

I wonder when I can stop this online shopping habit. If my mom finds out... "ooh?? that's how all your money gone.. Yadda.. Yadda .. Yadda..."

Hehehe.. I don't mind spending on books.. I can keep them for generations...

Yes.. smocking...! Which I haven't even complete any yet... Patience.. everyone.. Patience!! I'll do it ... s.o.o.n...

Cuteeeee... book.... Can't wait to make those cute stuff..

Another sewing book on dress pattern drafting... I hope it'll help.. I think dress pattern drafting is very hard to make..! Huhu... I wonder when can I really master this tailoring method... I'm a bit too slow on this.. Too many maths here..

Awwwhh.. I like this.. Cos I really want to try into making patchwork. Wish me luck... on my continous projects...

Ok.. where did I get this books from?? I like this online bookstore.. cos I got free shipping for items bought RM200 above... Try it out.. Acma Mall. Its all at your fingertips..

October Project - Sailboat Wall Hanging

Sorry for the delay on new updates.. I'm a bit busy lately with my girl. She's more clingy & playful lately. And I only had little time on my sewing.. But everyday is a good day sewing for me...

Here is my latest patchwork project. Actually this is my 2nd patchwork.. but my 1st one is still kept inside my drawer, nicely cut and had only sewn a few..
But as for the month of October, the Epal project of the month is The Sailboat Wall Hanging.

Don't laugh yaa.. this is my first attempt... and I have cut the material wrong! Not all.. but I spoilt 2 pieces.. I'd replaced one.. but as for the 2nd mistake, I can't afford to buy another RM28 per meter of American Cotton.. so I just continued with what I have with the help of my tutor. Only had to make a few adjustment & modification...

*SIGH*

Silly & careless me! This is only 40% of the project.. just completed the middle part... I hope I can get it done soon..( I doubt it)..
This is the actual work.. Nice eh? I hope it'll turn out well..

Beaded Handbag Workshop

Its Epal workshop again..! We made our very own Beaded Handbag ... but this time there's only 2 enthusiastic participant attended this workshop.. There should be 6 person, but the others didn't turn up.. So ended up only Neneth & me.Above pic: Emmah (tutor) and Neneth
During breaktime session.. eating pickled guava with "belacan" (Malaysian cheeze.. heheh) and chili & soy sauce.. yummy.. See eager neneth eating..

Above from left: Emmah, Idah (tutor), neneth & meeee... Happy eating biscuits..

We learnt to sew beads on the handbag.. So this is only 20% of it...

Larger view of the fabric for the outer part of bag..

This is the sample of the handbag... I hope I can complete mine soon...

Curtain with scalop

I finally finished my sliding door curtains done before Hari Raya... Phew..! I nearly gave up .. cos I have too many to sew.. all due before Eid.. Thank God I managed to get it hanged on the Raya eve.. Wow.. my first scallop curtain! I learnt it at my Epal class for September project.. I was suppose to make a matching round table cloth... with matching cushion cover.. Unfortunately the material supplied was ugly..! Not suitable for my small side round table... So I made a different fabric instead.. (sorry forgot to take pic)

Tadaaa! My humble curtain!
I learn it from Epal.. ! Every project made is usable... Worth the money..!
I'll post some of my finished project.. soon..
Stay tuned.

Tiny Lil Jubah - The model

Ahh...!! Such an adorable lil baby! She's 2 months with a very beutiful smile.

This is the mother's original jubah (not sewn by me ya...). I tried my best to match the lil dress.. but could not find exact lace.. But still in the same "theme" - black Jubbah with silver lace.

Tiny lil Jubah

Another tiny lil Jubah dress for a little 2months++ baby girl from Singapore.
Its a black satin dress with silver lace ribbon and beaded with black & silver Japanese beads along the lace, that matched with her mom's dress. I will post a picture of them when I receive it later..
Very tiny right? For a 2months ++ baby girl.

Happy birthday to me!!

I'm happy today!
A special thanks to my mother who brought me to this world..
I love you mama..
I wish I can share my joy with all of you out there...

Lady Boutique

I wanted to learn tailoring.. part-time.. but it is quite costly and need to sacrifice a lot of time.. I guess I'm not ready for that.. Slowly I will sharpen my skills by self learning..
For the time being.. I can only afford to buy books and magazine that might help a novice sewer like me. Found this at the newstand a few days back... Actually I took the risk of buying this magazine cos again its Japanese and sealed! I can't even flip thru before buying..
But I learnt to read dress pattern from a dressmaker.. so I guess there is not much of problem to me.. Just follow the numbers and a few english words on it.. and adjust to body measurement.

Quite nice women attires... I should try some.. as I never liked sewing adults apparel.. Cos I have very small space in my sewing room.. and adult dresses are too "grande" for me..

So I decided to try out drafting a pattern for my friend Ulai... She'll be a bridesmaid this coming October.. And she can't find any tailor that can accept her order due to Eid Fitri is just around the corner.. Pitty her...! She begged me to make one for her.. as she is really in a very "desperate" mode.. hehehe.. So.. even though I have many projects due in a few days.. I try my best to squezzzzze my schedule just for her...

Luckily I bought this magazine.. it has diagrams on how to draft pattern with adjustment and standard size.. I just follow & adjust where appropriate..

Really hope this would turn out ok... This is a very "challenging" project for me.. Can't afford for any mistakes.. It must turn out P.E.R.F.E.C.T.... Pray for me..!

Baju Kurung

I only managed to make 2 pair of "Baju Kurung" ( a traditional Malay costume - it has a top & a sarong) for my niece's 2 daughters... from WP Labuan, aged 3yrs & 2months old baby...
ignore the itcy hands on top..

I wish I can work faster... even though this is a cotton fabric.. I should have made it easier & faster.. but.. hmm.. this is the fastest pace I can do so far..

Baby Tascha's Christening

This is baby Tascha's christening ceremony... Cute lil Tascha resting on mommy's arm.. So sweet isn't she?
During the ceremony..

Ahh... adorable baby...! I miss my baby already.. Luckily the dress fits her.. a bit large for her size, but still ok.. I love sewing it..

Janome Overlock or serging machine

Where is my finish products?? No updates on my sewing projects yet??
I hope you're not tired of my gadgets yet... Too busy updating my blog with my new assets... until I forgot my update my sewing stuffs...
Ok.. ok.. this would be the last gadget ... (of the month)...
Presenting my new overlock or serging machine by Janome...

Why I love Janome so much..?

You'll have to try it out to feel the difference....

Why I bought this dinasor? Cos I have lots of sewing projects to be done that needs to sew the edging.. I have my old "no brand-made-in-china" serging machine .. but I have problems sewing overlock stitch at the edge which has curves.. And sometimes the stictches are not even or even missed a stitch and most of the time.. my fabric will get stuck easily.... Imagine the headache I went thru with my old overlock machine (too bad I forgot to take a pic of the old dinasor.. sold it already)

Hah.. now with this new overlock machine... I heard it can work wonders.. But I need to explore the functions.. Will keep you updated on what I've made from this machine...

I have 12 "baju kurung" due this week... oh my!

Gadget of the day..

Another interesting accessories that might be usefull when you need to make your own bias binding tape ( in Malay - kun atau tape paiping atau lis). Normally we just buy from the store for satin bias binding or normal cotton one. Now with this bias tape maker, you can make your own bias tape with your own matching material. All you need to do is to cut the fabric you desired , insert it, it will fold for you. Next.. just iron while inserting it... TADA! Done with your D.I.Y bias binding tape!

Opps.. sorry.. the price is way to high for this small lil gadget..hehehe.. Sorry my lips blocked your view..

Sewing is a learning process..

I would never stop learning.. and I'm still learning.. even from ground Zero.

Some more learning episodes...

"One of the things I learned the hard way was that it doesn't
pay to get discouraged. Keeping busy and making optimism a way of life can
restore your faith in yourself."
by Lucille Ball
