I knit it my way..

Long time I did not update my knitting projects, as you know knitting really takes time to complete. Unless if you put all your time knitting every hour & minute of your day.. yes, you can finish a large size cardigan in just 1 week.

I made one cardigan for Tweety Mutley.. hmm.. I cant remember when I started it.. sometime end of June. The cardie was actually completed last week, but the finishing part was a bit time consuming - especially darning the yarns & the embroidery..

So here's the 98% of the cardigan I've made.. Need to complete the embroidery part. I made 2 daisies so far at the front.. I hope I can finish it tonight..

Just to share with you this interesting embroidery method - using a crochet hook to sew chain stitch to your knitting garment. I can't remember where I found the tutorial video on this one... But its surely fun to do.. and fast too..

Look at the chain stitch I made using the crochet hook.. saves time.. But I have to be more careful on straight lines.. too many glitches here and there.. hehehe..

This is my next project... Stripe Blue cardigan for baby Danish..

Blog Mate meet

What a nice surprise when I finally meet my blog friend Trisya Alessa A.K.A @ Aween.. We never met before this, only chat and blog hopping and reunited at Epal Centre Kota Kinabalu.. We want to make appoinment to meet together at class, but due to family & job commitment, we can't find the right time to meet each other.. Until one fine day.. a new fella came sit next to my seat.. smiling.. but we were too shy to start a conversation... But I really got the instict to just say "hi... I'm Zura"...

"ARRRGGGHHH...!!!!""" she shouted!!... ITS YOU!
Aween & me.

Hmm.. like good old pal..!

Aween concerntrating with her work..

See.. she's now good at machine embroidery..

More practice.... please.

This is my hands.. holding my 1st totebag.. that I got from Shiela (my machine seller & introducer). Cute bag indeed.. I finished it in 1 day.. But only the tote bag..Actually it comes with a makeup bag and one tiny purse. That one.. still not done yet.. I think I can make 'em as my homework.. should be easy.. as the instrution on the paper guide is very easy to understand.

This is the finished product.. but mind the crumpled fabric.. I should iron it before taking a pic. But I was too excited.. i just quicky snap a shot without making the final touch-up..

Can't imagine how happy I was looking at my first totebag..

All this while I have been sewing things.. but none for my own self..

(Kesian kan?)

The flower girls during the wedding mass

8 August 2008 was finally the day my lil-dresses I made were worn by the cutest flower girls in town! See the cute lil girls in front row... and the "flower-mamas" at the back with the bride.
(I only made the lil girls' dress ya.. not the mamas)

Yeah.. this is my old good friend of mine Sharon.. (miss her already) with her darling lil daughter, Andrea. Wow! sexy mama indeed!

Aawwhh.. this one is the cutest! The lil darling Ying Ying, although she was not lined up to be with the flower girls troop, cos she's only 2yrs old.. But she also wears the same dress I made... So cute, isn't she??
Phew! Mega project accomplished!
Hope you enjoy viewing..

I hope she likes it..

Mary Jane booties - the Amy Butler Retro design.

I made a new pair of Mary Jane booties, this time I'm using fabric from Amy Butler. Fabric was supplied by the owner.. I just made it according to the baby's measurement & embelish it with felt flower and my cute button collection from Australia.
Funky isn't it?

Baby blue daisies diaper stacker

Made another diaper stacker. Oh well, I think my embroidery sucks.. I NEED AN EMBROIDERY MACHINE!!!... (is that an excuse?)

Need more time to organise my art work .. to make it a more presentable items .. This last minute work plus sleepyhead me.. made it a bit messy..

I made a few aditional ammendments to the flower girls dresses last nite. Just a minor one.. But I miss my bed so much lately.. ( I sleep quite well.. but not enough .. to have a good night sleep and sweet dreams.. I wonder if there are women out there has a weird passion as I am..) That's why I have limited time to embelish this diaper stacker..

Shirred Pink Dress

What have I done over the weekend? Errmm.. not much of sewing actually only this tiny dress for my friend's 1 year old girl. A last minute gift for her birthday.. I wanted to make more.. but so little time...! I was rushing to finish up Sharon's flower girl dress, and a few alteration to be made.. Yeah.. mind me the newbie in sewing.. Had to go thru all the nitty gritty sewing..
Guess how long I took to make this dress? 30minutes! Can u believe that! THats the only time I had to make this dress. I have only 2 minutes to think.. and *-:) !!!
I was in a rush on Saturday.. doing my laundry .. cleaning the house..and had to meet a friend of mine who wants to buy EPAL sewing machine from me.. SO.. I had to go out to settle her purchase. I had only around 30 mins before I left the house.. As soon as the idea came to my mind.. I quickly grab my Janome and sew myself away..
*Phew*
Lucky it turns out alrite.. Hope it fits..

My pride & joy

I don't know how to express my joy with this new baby of mine.. Finally my dream has come true.. I always wanted my own sewing machine that can do wonders.. Cannot believe myself that its mine! This Epal sewing machine - Model Harmony 2049 is the best sewing machine I can afford as for now..hehehe.. (Syukur lah Tuhan bagi saya semangat utk beli).. When I was at the Epal Centre KK, they intoduced me to another fantastic computerised embroidery machine... cost around 5K and 10K... WOW! I wish I had that much of $$... I want that tooo! But... a bit of patience & passion to own that one fine day.. will come true!

A very special thanks to Shiela the great person who sold me this machine with A Class customer service + Good Discount% + free gift. FYI, she is not from KK.. She's in KL, I only knew her virtually from blogging. So for friends out there who has the same passion as mine, and dreamed to have this machine... I fully recommend you buy this from her..(ehem.. from me also laah.. I'm not the reseller.. but as a member I want to share my joy with others too! Who knows one day I can jump into this great biz...)

Just contact me if you're interested.. We can deliver it to your doorstep! You can never find this kind of EXTRAS if you buy at the Epal Center. Serious!! Wanna bet?

This is the FREE Magic Kit, looks like a CD holder, but it only had elastic bands inside that can hold many types of sewing presser foot... Imagine all this comes FREE!.. If you buy ordinary sewing machine.. they sell it seperately.. and some of the presser foot are not available at stores..

Next free items is the user guide books, which teaches you step-by-step guide to make the sewing projects. I heard from Shiela these books are only included when you purchase the new Harmony Model 2049 (with new pricing). Epal do not sell the book seperately.. so for those who already had the machine, they will never get the chance to own this book.. Only the new members gets this.. Special kan?

What else do they give? Err.. not forgetting the VCD of basic guide to use this machine too! Isn't that great?

Now.. this is the Sew Cute Bag Kit.. FREE! Alahai.. Thank you Shiela.. I really feel honoured.

FYI, I'm the only one in KK who order this machine all the way from Puchong the main HQ for Epal. Currently Epal KK has no stock of this machine.. If you buy from there, sorry to say.. you'll have to wait till the stock arrives.. But mine.. wow.. I pay today.. 2-3 working days its ready to take home.

Wanna join the excitement? Please do not hesitate to contact me, "shout" me at my shoutbox, email me.. or call me.. AnYtimE!

Boy & Girl reunited

Reunited.. and it feels so gooooood... <-- This old song just came out of my head.. Do you know who sang it? I don't.. but I can still remember it was so long ago when I was little..

Tada!!!!

Finally the lil red sole got her soul-mate -->> the "Starry Blue"..

The blue one looks smaller although the size was actually the same ( 0-6mnths )..

Note:

Forgot to tell you that the star shaped button is the one that my cyber mate Faridah bought me from Australia..

Did you notice, the Starry Blue has 2 color-tone , blue & white inside. I still used the same felt material, but now I combine 2 colors that makes it two layers of felt.. A bit thicker but it stands on its own, not like the Red sole has only 1 piece..

Quite a challenge for me to make this booties, its thicker & sooo tiny... Luckily I had my new sewing machine from Epal. What a great machine it is....! Didn't have the time to show you my new gadget yet.. Later soon I guess, when I'm finished fiddling with it.. Still a lot more to learn.

*sigh*

I just love this smallie.. cutie.. tiny shoe.. I wish I had a nice box to keep this sole..

Recycle the old bolster case

Long time I didn't shop for our queen size bedsheet. Eversince my company I worked with had stopped from giving us RM50 Parkson voucher for annual dinner as a doorgift to all staff.

All these years I used the voucher to buy our bedsheets (kesian kan?), cos I couldn't figure out what to buy there.. for $50 .. I just add a few more to get the nice soft & cool bedsheet. The least that I can afford..

Bedsheet normally comes with 2 pillow cases & 1 bolster case. But I never had a "bantal guling" or bolster all my life.. so I got to waste 1 piece of bolster case from each set..

Never used it.. just kept it for nothing..

I dig out my closet last weekend and found a few bolster cases, still bright & shiny.. So I was thinking, since Maya is still sleeping with us on our bed, might as well I make one pillow case for her.. that matched..
This is the bolster case that I recycled.

Here are some of the steps i took to transform the bolster case to a pillow case.

TADA! Now I have 3 pillowcases!

See who's leg conquers all..

Lil Red Sole

I love this.. So adorable.. isn't it?
I got this idea from my old friend Hip-o-Mama. She bought a pair of handmade baby booties from US. It was made of felt material.. I decided to try it out.. Well, you know me.. I was too eager to try out new things .. especially cute lil things that I really cannot resist.
I dig out my printout draft pattern of baby sole from my knitting collection, and found the drawing pattern for size 0-6months.
Tada! DONE!
Its is so very simple.. But the hard thing is its too tiny to sew.. especially when handling sewing machine.. I need to sew it slow & steady..
Its cute for gifts too. I must find a good box to put it into.. I wonder who will be lucky to have this sole..

Updates on my flower girl dress

Made another 2 pairs last nite.. (: *yawn*
Yeaah.. tired too.. But still okay..
I did't sleep that late last nite.. only started at 10pm till 12 midnight.. Cannot bear it no more beyond that.. really time for bed & rest..

Look what I bought?

I bought this stuff online from Snazzy&Such. Just got 'em this morning air mailed by Pos Express. Very express indeed... Sent on Monday, arrived this morning (Wednesday).
I bought magnetic closure (2 sizes), 6" Big Teeth Zippers and some cute felt embelishment flowers..
Wonder what would my next project be? With this items..
Next job on queue.. (no idea yet)

More of baby blue flower girl dress

What more can I add to this flower girl dress..
BEADS?!

Yes, beads... I never sewn beads before.. this is my first trial attempt.

Ok.. I guess?

I got this idea from baby daisy beads tutorial by Cheq Sue. It was so adorable.. but mine has a big gap in between the daisies.. I should have made it closer with no gaps like what Cheq Sue made..

I'll ask the owner first if she prefers it to be filled with daisies all around the neck.

Thanks to Cheq Sue for her tutorial..

Zig zag Shear

I bought this shear yesterday.. Quite pricey I must say.. (there goes my RM50 last piece..)
But it trims away all the bits & pieces of your fragile fabric from tearing off.

What inspires me to buy?
I bought a book on children dressmaking techniques written by Rosita Jaafar.
She uses this technique for neat trimmings.

Good idea indeed, since my very-cheap-china-made overlock machine cannot trim curves .. It can only go for straight line..

At least with this shear, safe time from struggling to trim the arm hole... & most important thing is.. more tidy work.

I find this book quite useful, cos it shows visually in pictures, easy to understand for beginners like me.. Price RM 39.90 (WM)

Baby-blue Flower Girl dress

Finally.. I managed to complete 98% of the Baby-blue Flower Girl Dress.
Only 1 dress done.. I have another 6 pair to go..
Why 98%?

Because the flower is not sewn on the belt yet.. And I need to get da boss Sharon to approve it first ..

The rose was just a trial one.. plus the hanging down ribbon is just temporary.. I need to buy ribbon that match the color OR I need to buy more of the baby blue satin, cos the fabric provided is not enough to make the long tail in front.

And i plan to make some embelisment on the neck.. maybe some beads.. If I got the time ya? And of course if its not beyond the budget..

Progress on Flower Girl dress

I made the 1st flower girl dress for Andrea (Sharon's princess).
80% completed.. only the plain white dress part is done..
This is my first time making flower girl dress for a wedding.. Wow.. it was indeed a very big challenge.
My only comment is, the 1st time is always the hardest....
I really hope it would turn out ok.

Hey.. I'm listed in the BIG LIST of SEWING blogs!

I received this buttons from my blog friend Faridah yesterday!

A special THANKS to you Faridah for taking the effort to buy the buttons for me from your trip to Australia recently.

I never thought my dream would come true, cos I really admire the buttons she bought for our other blog fren Maya .. and wished if she could buy the same set for me as well.

You can't imagine how happy & over excited I was when Faridah told me she managed to buy it for me!

You really make my day..

Everywhere... knit.. knit..

I hope I never get bored knitting..
I knit everywhere..
Even if I have so little time..
I must squeeze my time to do a few rows at least..
Do I have time?
YES.
Knitting -- when my baby is awake
Sewing -- when my baby sleeps
Time for my baby?
YES.. all the time.. she'll be around me when I'm knitting..
Time for daddy?
YES too.. But we spent most of the weekends out together..
That time... when daddy's home..
NO KNITTING NO SEWING..
just me, daddy & Maya.

My biggest project - Flower Girls dress

Can I be a fashion designer? Not..!
Look at my lousy drawing.. but at least I can draft out what I want on that piece of paper.. cos the "customer"asked me how it will look like.. after she describe what she wants.
I was given a heavy duty task this time. Making flower girl dresses for Sharon
She needs 8 dresses, all satin white with baby blue ribbon at the waist. It looks simple.. but.. I can't imagine how am I going to sew satin..
This will be a big responsibility.. A wedding is such a big event.. But I must try..
Due date.. 8 August 2008 is the wedding day..
Oopps.. 1 months left!

Aren't gettin bored of diaper stacker yet?

Yeahh.. yeahh.. bored of my stacker huh??
I must make some other stuff then..
But I can't help posting all what I've made.. after all my effort.. eheheh..
Phew.. I've made 3 last week, plus this 4 over the weekend.. That was indeed a marathon!
(I'm also in process of knitting a cardigan for my friend Tweety Mutley.. but slow & steady.. I knit anytime, anywhere..)
Again.. halfway done..
Still need to find somethin' different for the "head".

I only managed to make 1 for my blog friend - trisyaaleesasweetden

But I find it a bit over decorated..:-S

Aleesa.. hope you like it!

Diaper Stacker done!

Hah! Finally done with my diaper stacker. Since kak K was so excited to get her stuff today, I only managed to make a simple embelishment last nite- mixture of ric rac for the borders & the letter "L", felt applique for the heartshape with simple blanket stitch around it & stem stitch for "V" & "E".
I wanted to do the ric rac dahlias, but I was short of ric rac... Next one then..

This is my first crochet flower! Wow.. an achievement for me.. I just learnt crochet.. Still a lot more to learn..

More diaper stacker to decorate

I made these diaper stacker last nite for Kak K, but I still need to do some touch-up on the deco. Done only the body part..
Pink White Daisies with Pink Gingham.

Special request, Kak K asked for zippers.

Tada!.. Say no to dust..

Dramatic Red & Black ric rac

(errm.. I think the color was a bit contrast.. I wanted to change the ric rac to a sweeter color..but.. whats done is done..Kak K, hope you won't mind.. if you prefer a different style or color.. I can make another one.!)

Opps.. This one has no zippers, forgot!

So next task to do tonite is to make something for the "head" part.. Cud it be crochet flower? Applique? Smock? Ric rac daisies...?

Err..lemme think something out.. Anyone can help me?

Look what I got..

I just got this great stuff this morning. Thanks to neneth who shared & combined with me with her orders at ebay.
These are more of our knitting accessories collection. Aren't we crazy with knitting?
We ordered all the way from US for this "Lot of Knitting Accessories"
Above:
These are sticth holders

Above (from left clockwise):

Yarn Needles, 2 sets of point protectors (big&small size), needle size check (knitting gauge), stich markers & sticth count markers..

P/S: Also not forgetting our good fren Jo who helped us getting this stuff from post office. Quite surprisingly, the parcel reaches Malaysia on the 2nd June, but the postman did not send to our office until now! Thanks to Jo's mom who helped us digging out the parcel and safely handed to us, with no delivery charges.. (HEHEHE..)

Thanks Jo dearie!

Baby hat

Completed my baby hat!

Monday, June 23, 2008

Look who's knitting ??

I found it a bit funny to see my girl was caught holding my knittings. I was lucky she didn't pull the yarn out!. *PHEW*
But she was pretending she was doing it... she holds it quite still.. until I came back and saw 'em in her bare-hands!!! Oh NO! *I shouted*
But she seems to stay cool & stunned there for a while.. She knew I'll get angry with her..
But instead.. she put a smile on my face and quickly grab my hp to get the precious shot before she ruin my masterpiece..!

I tried to make a hat from the cheapest-yarn-in-town. Although the color was so sweet.. but the yarn is toooooo tiny to knit!..

This hat was suppose to be for 2yrs size.. But with this tiny yarn plus the tiny needle size 3mm, i guess this would only make for 3-6months size..

Well, nevermind. This is only trial.. just to check the gauge for tiny yarns like MINLON or SAKURA... Yes.. these yarns are cheap, but not that suitable for knitting.. (Penat lah.. banyak sangat stiches )

Check out the price in KK - RM 3.40 for Minlon yarn.. The yarn store I went informed me that the price will increase by 1st July 2008.

Oh my! Will that end my knitting hobby?

No way Jose!

Pink girly diaper stacker

I made this diaper stacker last nite. I thought I can make 3 at one go. But I was a bit sleepy. So this is the only one I can finish.
Kak K. ordered 3 diaper stacker.. so the rest will be finished hopefully by tonight/this week.
I tried to make each diaper stacker unique, I hope I have more ideas to embelish this thing besides the matterial pattern.
Any ideas?
